Research Fellow
RNDr. Jana Lomenová, PhD.
Dr. Jana Lomenová, PhD. is a young investigator at the Department of Biochemical Pharmacology of the IEPT SAS. After completing a PhD study at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava in 2009, she joined the research team of Dr. Horáková. Her experimental focus is oriented toward the study of the effects of natural compounds (especially polyphenols) and their derivatives on calcium regulation in pancreatic beta cells under conditions of endoplasmic reticulum stress induced by various mechanisms. She also investigates modulatory properties of polyphenols and their derivatives on the activity, expression and conformational changes of calcium regulating pumps, such as SERCA, under conditions of oxidative stress. In 2008, she obtained a scholarship for a short-term research stay in the University of Łodz in Poland. In 2009, she received Young Investigator Award for extraordinary scientific achievements in the field of Free Radical Research in SFRR-Europe meeting Rome, Italy. Since 2016, she is the Head of the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
