RESEARCH INTERESTS

• Effect of oxidants and antioxidants on Ca2+-ATPase from sarcoplasmic reticulum (SERCA) – the main protein maintaining calcium homeostasis, in relation to age related diseases and its treatment. Study of SERCA activity, its kinetics, conformational alterations.


• Study on the level of pancreatic beta cells line INS-1E as a model for diabetic complications: vitality, insulin release and cytosolic Ca2+ level in the presence of natural/synthetic agents. Possible link between impaired Ca2+-ATPase and vitality of INS-1E.
